So many hats to wear.

I have been enthralled with making crocheted hats I've crocheted for a few years now and I have found some great tutorials that taught me. For today I'd like to share some of my hats.

Last week I made this cute pinky hat for a co-worker. I had a hard time giving it up.

For Christmas I made a cute red braids hat for Miranda. Lucky me she is "not into the braid style.". Oh my sweet 8yr old. So I made it my Christmas hat. I had ALOT of complements.

Since the holidays were over I made myself an every day hat with super long braids. I enjoy wearing it .

Skating Pictures

Miranda has a lil friend Celia that she skates with. They were the only two in their level. Miranda was excited to share the podium with her and Celia was good about it too.

It
Its tough to get Gold when there are only two of you.

Gold and Silver

Ice Skating Competition Spring 2011

Lil skater girl. She did Great for her competition. She was asking for more events and wanted to keep skating when it was all over. She got Gold for the music program and a silver for the elements. Im just happy she had a good time and wants to keep at it. especially since we just got her some very expensive "real" ice skaters skates.

Bonjour! Ava Hat

I have been working on my first try on following a crochet pattern. After one huge failure. (bad pattern) and taking apart my first hat (count the stitches it makes a difference). Miranda put on her new pink sparkly hat and the first thing out of her mouth is "bonjour" and then some fake french jibberish after. She wore it to school and was still in France. I wonder if she will still be french when she comes home.
I am now working on the rose to adorn the hat with. I may even attatch it to a hair clip so she (or I) could wear it in her hair or on the hat.

What are you thankful for?

Days of beautiful spring weather with snow days thrown in between really mess my spring dreams up. I am thankful for sooo many things. What are you thankful for?

My Sweet hubby and our lil family.
Parents who have stayed committed to each other.

Testimony of Christ unconditional love for me.
The cutest lil daughter in the "WHOLE WIDE WORLD"
Pedis with the girls.

These are a few of my favorite things to be thankful for. I pray that we remember the lil things especially when there are so many with so little especially after some of the devastating happenings in the world as of late. God watches over all of his children and loves each of us. He will provide and succor those who need his comfort.

Times are a changin.

It's about time for me to post news of my life changes.

First a huge change in my work status. I teasingly say I'm "retired". I am no longer employed at Goddard school as an infant room teacher. Oh I miss my sweet babies and teacher friends. Miranda misses them too she loved seeing the babies each day and gave all 14 of them kisses every morning before she went to school.

I am relieved to be able to get so many things cleaned up at home. I've already cleaned the house, organized my closet, who knew I had so many clothes, and sorted out Mirandas clothes. No wonder she complained about underwear being to tight she was wearing ones that were 3 sizes too small. Sorry about that "lil chica".
This week I have been working on the basement. I have found any entire craft store down there. I'm excited to start on some of these crafts, once I get this house in order. I also have bunches of stuff to take to also to sell. Now onto the huge selection of Christmas decorations. The hard part is deciding what to keep and what to throw away and donate. May the organizational gods be with me. One other thing that I have noticed right away was Miranda's attitude and my patience with her. She told me "your such a nice mommy now". I guess having more energy and peace and quiet in the day time gives me more to give to her. Even her behavior at school has improved.
As I keep going I'll try to remember to photo document my progress.

Here's to loving being a "domestic goddess".

New Do for a Stylish Girl

We have been talking about going shorter with Miranda's hair style and she always said "NO". The other day however she took the scissors to her cute long pony tails and when I found out she said she wanted her hair cut. I thought ok lets do this while she is game. So I asked her how short and told me as short as when she was 2. I showed her how short that was in pictures and she got very excited. We took the plunge and yes I miss her long pony tails and even felt a little sad but she LOVES it and her friends love it and we have no remorse. I guess it was the right time. She does however look older than her sweet young 6 years old.

Mirandas first skating competition

Miranda has been skating for a few months now. She finally has gotten to the basic skills level. She feels good not wearing her helmet and likes to skate for the whole lesson time. She was invited to her first competition and she was very excited to participate. She was hoping to win "the big trophy" just a lil bit of an overachiever but she instead won bronze in her music event and silver in her skills event.

Miranda, her coach and lil friend Celia. heir dresses were a gift for Mirandas birthday and Celia borrowed it. they look so cute.

I think her favorite part is the outfit, hair and makeup.

Proud little medalist.

Well she kept calling 3rd place last place which it technically was but they only put 3 in each category so everyone gets at least a bronze.

Miranda's First Skating Lesson

Miranda asked for a pair of ice skates for Christmas so sweet Uncle Pete got her a nice pair. We signed up for lessons in May and this is a video of her first lesson. Now I try to be a sympathetic mom but I have to truley restrain myself from laughing at her antics. I cant always tell if its a show or if she is being real. Anyway she is still taking lessons. She still moves the same speed but she concentrates on NOT FALLING. she has also figured out that if you are slow enough the group will return to the side of the rink you are on and you dont have to g all the way and back before they move onto something else. hmmm too smart i think. ill get more footage as she improves. it may be awhile. teehee.

Inspired by Nie Nie

I have been following Nie Nie's blog for a few months now. She has inspired me many times as she works through her challenges and recovery. I am grateful for her testimony. Here is her mormon message. It is so inspiring.

Good bye Sweet Ralphie

I have been putting off writing this post. I am still struggling to get over the loss of our sweet lil dog, Ralph. We had to put him down last week unexpectedly. He was diagnosed too late with diabetes that had already started to shut down and damage his other organs.
The toughest part is not having him greet me when I come home or waking up not having him there to let out. his spot on the couch where it is indented looks empty without him. I could go on in all the ways hes made my life better. (tears are now falling). I miss you Ralph I hope you are enjoying chasing those heavenly bunnies. We love you and thank you for blessing our lives with you lil puppy dog spirit.

Easter Eggs Hunting 2010

We had our family easter eggs hunt and easter dinner last saturday. The older boys (aka Easter bunnies) hid the eggs (dropped them on the lawn) and the younger ones picked them up. We were lucky enough to have a friend let us use their nice big back yard. It was alot of fun.

Look who can read.

Miranda brought home this book from the school library. She told me she was going to read it to me and then proceeded to read it to me. Shock and amazed I had to document this major mile stone. Great job Miranda you lil smarty.

Snow day blues, Summer wishes

After much convincing Miranda went outside in the snow to play.
Doris & Miranda

Doris and Miranda had a snowball fight across the driveway. It was pretty cute because neither of them could throw far enough to reach the other side.

We have been snowed in for the past two days with 16 inches of snow.  Too bad we have to go out and shovel. When I say "we" I really mean "me". Joe is out of town. ohh the life of a sales mans wife. I do have good neighbors who came by with their snowblower and finished it up for me. So the "we" is back in play. The snow plow guy even took pity on me and moved the snow from the road that blocked my driveway. (shhh, don't let anyone know he did it though).

After Miranda got finished playing she had the realization that snow is cold and began to drama cry. You would have thought she was just rescued from mount everest and had frost bitten toes. She now is running around the house in her "summer" clothes and has stated that she will NEVER go out in the snow again. I still think Arizona would be the perfect place to live even in the hot summers.

Ya, that's more like it. Think warm thoughts.
